The original University of Sankore in Timbuktu, Mali West Africa stood as one of the world's great centers of learning, a place where knowledge flowed through partnership rather than hierarchy, and where scholars traveled thousands of miles because the intellectual work was that serious.
When the world called Timbuktu the 'middle of nowhere,' it was in fact the center of everything a hub of scholarship, trade, and transformational thinking at the crossroads of the known world.
